Bell Takes World Cup Lead

Beijing, China - Canadian track cyclist Zach Bell moved into first place in the UCI Omnium World Cup standings with his second place in Beijing.  The 28-year-old Canadian has strung together consistent performances in the multi disciplined Omnium and moved into a commanding lead.  
 
On day 1, Bell won the Flying Lap with a time of 13.233.  He took 4th in the Points Race and 6th in the Elimination Race to finish day 1 in second place.  Day 2 saw Bell finish 6th in the Individual Pursuit, 9th in the Scratch Race, and 4th in the Kilo, just missing the Omnium win by two points.

Congratulations to our FELT ÖTZTAL X-BIONIC rider Paul Van Der Ploeg! He won the FELT Alpine Assault 2011, Australia’s ultimate 100km Mountain Bike race. The race starts at Falls Creek and finishes 100km later in Mt Beauty after travelling through the spectacular Alpine National Park.

Irvine, CA – Felt Bicycles is pleased to announce it will sponsor 2010 Ironman World Champion Mirinda Carfrae in 2011 and beyond.  The 29-year-old Australian will compete on the groundbreaking Felt DA triathlon bike through 2013.

Irvine, California - Felt Bicycles is pleased to announce that Olympic and 3-time World Triathlon Champion Emma Snowsill (AUS) will be racing on Felt bikes through 2013.  Snowsill, one of the most accomplished short distance triathletes of all time, will focus on ITU and non-draft legal triathlons in 2011 and look to defend her Olympic Triathlon title in 2012.

Cali, Columbia - Team OUCH's Sarah Hammer took her first 2010-2011 World Cup Gold Medal with a win in the Women's Omnium.  Hammer, a three time World Champion in the Individual Pursuit, has performed well in her transition to the multi-race event.  Fellow Felt Athlete Zach Bell took Bronze in the Men's Omnium.  The Canadian took Second Place in the Melbourne Men's Omnium two weeks prior, and retains his second place in World Cup rankings.
 
Hammer, who just began competing in the Omnium this year, was the class of the field in Cali.  The 27-year-old American won each of the first four events (Flying Lap, Points Race, Elimination Race, andIndividual Pursuit) on her way to Gold.

Hobart, Australia - Felt Oetztal X-Bionic's Paul Van Der Ploeg won two U23 classifications at theAustralian National Mountain Bike Series over the weekend.  The 21-year-old Victorian won both the U23 Cross Country race and U23 Short Track event, and finished 3rd overall in both races.  Van Der Ploeg, who suffered a patellar tendon injury earlier this year, is continuing his build up to the World Cup season which beings April 23rd in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa.  
 
In the XC race, Van Der Ploeg finished ahead of the 2nd Place U23 rider by nearly four minutes and was able to wheelie his Felt Six LTD across the finish line.  After the race, Van Der Ploeg was enthusiastic about his performance.  "It's a technical track, so that suits me and I'm very happy I came in third against the elite guys," said Van Der Ploeg after the XC race.

Melbourne, Australia – Canadian track cyclist Zach Bell won the Silver Medal in the Omnium at the UCI Track World Cup in Melbourne.  The Canadian has excelled at the multi-disciplined Omnium, and just two weeks ago took silver at the Perth International Track Grand Prix.
 
Bell had strong performances in the Flying Lap and Points Race on day 1, finishing third in both races, and ended day 1 in third place overall. On day 2, Bell won the Scratch Race, and had strong performances in the Pursuit and Time Trial, propelling him to the Silver Medal. Bell competed on a TK1 in each event.
 
Round 2 of the UCI Track World Cup will be December 16-18 in Cali, Columbia.

Melbourne, Australia - Felt track cyclists will be competing in the UCI Track World Cup in Melbourne December 2 through December 4.  After setting the women's team pursuit world record at the Pan American Games earlier this year, the American pursuit team is looking to podium without their anchor, Sarah Hammer.  The pursuit team includes Felt riders Lauren Tamayo, Cari Higgins, and Dotsie Bausch.  
 
Canadian Zach Bell will be racing in the endurance events after a finishing second in the points race at the Perth International Track Grand Prix two weeks ago.  In the sprints, fellow Canadian racer Travis Smith will seek podiums in the sprint and keiren.   
 
All Felt track athletes will be competing aboard the Felt TK1.

In the most recent issue of Germany’s “RoadBIKE Magazin” the new Felt F1 proved its technological advantage and was awarded the winner of the magazine’s latest high performance test. It competed with the most prestigous roadbikes.

The UCI set up a new structure of classification for MTB Professional Teams for the next season which is similar to the Road Teams. 
 
Only the best 15 Teams in the world are nominated for this new MTB ELITE-Status.
 
The ranking is calculated by adding the UCI points of the 3 best placed men and the 2 best placed women of each team in the UCI Mountain Bike XCO individual classifications as of September 27th, 2010.
