Belgium — Garmin-Transitions rider Tyler Farrar kicked off his 2010 Spring Classics campaign with a strong third-place finish at Omloop Het Nieuwsblad (formerly Het Volk) on Saturday. Racing on Belgian cobblestones for the first time this season, Farrar charged to the front of a chase group near the end of the 204-kilometer race, scoring the final podium spot behind Spaniard Juan Antonio Flecha and German Heinrich Haussler.

Oman—Australian Time Trial National Champion Cameron Meyer showed off his considerable talent for racing against the clock with a third-place finish against some of the world’s top pros in Friday’s final stage of the Tour of Oman. The 22-year-old Garmin-Transitions rider finished just behind Time Trial World Champion Fabian Cancellara to take the final podium spot and move up to third place overall in the final GC standings.

Qatar — The Garmin-Transitions squad opened the Tour of Qatar stage race on a high note, finishing second in Sunday’s Team Time Trial. On a typically blustery day in Qatar, which sits on the northern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, the team covered the 8.2-kilometer course in 9:49, 8 seconds behind the first-place Team Sky.

The roads of this six-day race, which starts with a team time trial on Sunday, are mostly flat with the main challenge being the punishing winds that buffet this area on the northern coast of the Arabian Peninsula.
